Super Bowl Sunday Vegetarian Style

As a practicing vegetarian/pescetarain it can be hard sometimes to socialize for major American events such as the Super Bowl.

Typically when Super Bowl Sunday comes around, it’s all meat and unhealthy everything.

Meatballs, ribs, chicken wings, etc. are all things that most carnivore loving Americans will have on their Super Bowl menu.

If you are a vegetarian you can be left out to dry when it comes to enjoying the foods that are traditionally served at Super Bowl parties, but that’s where Miss Foodie Fab comes in.

I selected some of my favorite pins from Pinterest to share with those of you who don’t eat meat, but still want to get your eat on for the Super Bowl.

For those of you on a weight loss journey, don’t fret if you think these recipes look sinful. Remember, the key is moderation. Have a little bite, drink plenty of water, and keep it moving!

Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday and don’t beat yourself up the next day! Oh, and gooooooo 49ers! Red & Gold, baby!

Lee’s Bakery, Banh Mi Heaven

I read about Lee’s Bakery on Buford Highway via Yelp, and because the majority of the reviews were great, I decided to give them a try. Man, let me just say “they ain’t nevah lied.” The reviews were right on! Best Banh mi ever!

Lee’s Bakery place has the best sandwich I ever devoured. If they weren’t so far away from my house I would be there now happily munching on a grilled pork bánh mì, instead of telling you about them. The night after I ate my first Lee’s Bakery bánh mì all I could think was *Homer Simpson voice*, “Yummm Banh miiiiiii!”

So what is a bánh mì? Basically it’s a Vietnamese Po’Boy, or as I would like to now call it, “The crack of all sandwiches.” A bánh mì is a baguette filled with meat or soy fillings, fresh cucumber slices, cilantro, and pickled carrots. Of all the bánh mì places on Buford Highway, Lee’s Bakery is the best. My personal favorite is the grilled pork bánh mì. Oh and did I mention they only charge $2.50 for one to go, and $3 for one ordered in? Yeah, let me not forget that. You can definitely get your grub on here for cheap.

On top of bánh mì, Lee’s Bakery also serves a mean bowl of pho and boba tea (or bubble tea). If you go be sure to try the mango boba tea. Between a bánh mì, bowl of pho, and a boba tea you might need to be waddled out the door. They will fill you up and leave you satisfied.

As far as the service, it’s excellent. The staff is very courteous and, as a person with self-diagnosed OCD, I appreciate that the staff always double bag my orders to make sure there will be no “accidents” in the car from transport.

If you live in or around the Atlanta metro area and haven’t tried this place, please drop what you are doing and go now. Your stomach and your mouth will thank me later.

Unfortunately Lee’s Bakery doesn’t have a website, but you can Google them and they are located at:

4005 Buford Hwy NE
Atlanta, GA 30345

Have you eaten Vietnamese food before, if so what’s your favorite dish?

Fantabulous Foods, Take One

*sigh* Let’s talk about a subject that is near and dear to my heart, food. Oh sweet 8 pounds, 6 ounces, born in the manger, Baby Jesus how I love food. I would say it borders on an obsession, but I don’t want any one calling Jenny Craig on me. No really, don’t y’all call Jenny Graig on me.

Anywhoo, as I was saying, I love food. I like to eat it, smell it, taste it, cook it, and look at it. This may explain why I have 690 recipe pins on Pinterest, and that’s not including my categorized food pins. Okay, I may be a little obsessed.

That being said I thought it would be ever so gracious of me to share a few of the current foods that I find fantabulous. You’re welcome in  advance!

biscoff cookies, cookies, airplane cookies

A fellow blogger referred to Biscoff cookies, on my Instagram, as the “Airplane cookies!” Such truer words have never been spoken, however you don’t have to catch a flight anymore to indulge in one of these babies. Nope, they can now be found at your local Wal-Mart. I seen some recently in the cookie aisles and I broke out into a hallelujah dance. These cookies are the perfect accompaniment to coffee or tea. Whenever I eat one my pinky automatically raises in the air.

Chobani, Greek Yogurt, Yogurt

If you haven’t tried Greek Yogurt, you are doing yourself a disservice. Regular yogurt is soooo *rolls eyes* 2008. Greek yogurt is higher in protein, and lower in carbs, than regular yogurt. My favorite Chobani Yogurt is the pineapple, it’s the perfect blend of tang and sweet. For an extra treat, add a bit of granola and a drizzle of honey for the perfect snack.

Vegetarian, Vegetarian Food, Veggie Burger, Black Bean Burger, Morning Star

For all those on Team Vegetarian, I didn’t forget about you. Morning Star Farms Spicy Black Bean Burger is perfect for summertime grilling. The blend of black beans, roasted corn, brown rice, and chili peppers gives you plenty of texture and flavor. I reach for these when my husband feels like barbecuing. They are so good that I don’t even think twice about a beef burger. After I add a slice of cheese, mayo, ketchup, mustard, and a touch of Sriracha sauce, it becomes a party in my mouth.

Let me know some of your favorite foods, I would love to hear from you!
